    MII: Broadband Available In 92% Of Rural Areas

    The Ministry of Information Industry's (MII) rural telecom development project "Cun Cun Tong" has opened broadband service in 92 percent of rural areas while 97 percent of rural areas have met equipment requirements for the service, according to MII statistics released on January 7. After adding service to 3,759 administrative villages in 2007, fixed line telephone service was available in 99.5 percent of administrative villages by January, 2008. China has more than 6,000 websites related to agriculture and rural areas, according to the MII.
